Most of the wooden puzzles found at Frik-n-Frak.com are manufactured out of wood sourced from Thailand. This beautiful wood is called Monkey Pod (Pithecellobium saman), which is similar in characteristics to Asian Mahogany and Red Oak in weight, texture and workability - but it is a bit softer. This wood is known in Thailand as "Chumcha." |

Chumcha is found throughout Thailand in abundance. Chumcha is a fast-growing tree that has been introduced to many tropical countries throughout the world from its native habitats in Central America and northern South America.
Although generally planted as a shade tree and ornamental, it has been naturalized in many countries and is greatly valued in pastures as shade for cattle and is highly valued in some locations for carvings and furniture. It is not a tree species that is endangered.
