This is a beautiful Teak Treasure Chest with a unique brass latch.  These beautiful Treasure Chests are made of real Teak wood acquired from a forested tree farm in Laos.  To be sure, it is made from a renewable resource, not old growth teak which is illegal to farm in Thailand.

Teak is unique and has qualities unlike other types of wood.  It has the great ability to withstand adverse climate conditions while weathering attractively. Discovered by British craftsmen in the 18th century, teak is now the ideal choice for, among other things, ship building and outdoor furniture.

 

Established in Indonesia by the Dutch in the mid-19th century, teak is carefully harvested from carefully controlled plantations. The Indonesian government allows the cutting of a limited number of teak trees each year while ensuring that an equal amount of reforestation takes place.

 

This beautiful Teak Treasure Chest makes a great jewelry box and/or desk or coffee table accessory.  It is a beautiful piece of art and will compliment ANY room in your home!
